Balurghat is a subdivision of the Dakshin Dinajpur District and comes under Jalpaiguri division in the State of West Bengal. The city consists of Balurghat

Balurghat BlockThis block consists of Rural and Urban blocks. Rural area under this block consists of 11 gram panchayats namely; Amritakhand, Gopalbati, Chakvrigu, Patiram, Chingishpur, Bolla, Vatpara, Jalghar, Boaldar, Vatpara, Najirpur and Danga. Two urban outgrowths are Baidyanathpara and Chak Bhrigu. This Block is served by Balurghat police station and the Headquarters if Balurghat block is in Beltola Park.
Kumarganj BlockRural area under this block includes eight gram panchayats namely; Deor, Batun, Safanagar, Mohana, Jakirpur, Bjour, Samjia and Ramkrishnapur. This block is served by Kumarganj police station and headquarters of the block is in Gopalgunj
Tapan BlockRural are under this block consists of 11 gram panchayats namely; Gophanagar, Ajmatpur, Rampara Chenchra, Hazratpur, Gurail, Autina, Malanch, Dwipkhanda, Tapanchandipur, Ramchandrapur and Harsura. This Block is served by Tapan police station and headquarters of this block is in Tapan.
